Bacteria
These two bacterial diseases are very difficult to control and eradicate. They can lay inert for many years just waiting for the opportunity to proliferate.

Treating either with antibiotics is a poor choice for two reasons. Firstly it risks introducing the antibiotics into the human foodchain and will risk accelerating the rate at which human bacteria become immune to antibiotics as a treatment.

Secondly it is pointless because it will not eradicate the disease in the apiary. It will flare up again, especially with American Foulbrood (AFB), in no time at all.
